Leaders Bring Leaders To Follow!

Great leaders help create great leaders. Often the leaders they create will follow them from opportunity to opportunity.  Being a great leader doesn't mean you have to be the CEO or running a big division of your company. What it does mean is that you are in a position to affect your company's culture. The good news here is that this can be you or any person you work with. Leadership isn't defined by title or how much money you make. In my experience, great leaders are followers of the great leaders they helped to create.

Let me repeat that, I believe great leaders are FOLLOWERS of the great leaders they helped to create.

I have been fortunate to work with some real pro's over the years. Men and women who have high leadership lids, who perform consistently and who are continuing to raise their level. Some of these folks have followed me from @Advent Software, @Albridge Solutions, @Princeton Financial Systems and @State Street and I sure am glad they did.

Here's why.

Having such great leaders on my team raises the likelihood @Scivantage will delight our clients and improve our chances of growing. Growing profitable revenue is tough work and it takes a high performing culture to do it. Building a culture of value and high performance cannot be lead by one executive. Instead, it takes a team of high performing leaders that will create more leaders while consistently raising the bar for everyone. I have surrounded myself with people who are far more effective at doing things, faster, better and cheaper than I ever could have done alone. If they do the same (and they are), the tide rolls in and all boats are lifted. I watch these pro's in action and am humbled daily. I listen and learn from them and do what they ask of me to the best of my ability. I challenge them frequently because I know they are goal oriented and excel at exceeding. If I provide the right challenge, and they in turn pass on the right challenges to their teams, we all win because we built great teams with great leaders who know how to follow and win. It is circuitous, challenging, and most importantly, infectious.

Do this in your group and watch the other executives you work with and how they react.  The good ones will be happy to emulate your activities and follow the leaders on their teams, pushing them to hire leaders they can follow as well. As the discipline becomes infectious, watch your organization change and become more results oriented. You will delight your clients and have built a culture of value, high performance and profitable growth.

If you take one thing from this post let it be this.

The more you push down the higher you will go as an organization. Lead by following the leaders on your team and encourage them to do the same.

My Best,
